全無破綻
Watching From The Ridge

As for Bajie, seeing the Great Sage engaged with the monster, he stood his muckrake up on the spur of the hill and did not come to help, but only stared and stared.
著 reads zhe, the rake stood up and left standing; 著 is zhe again, the staring kept up.

The monster saw that Wukong's cudgel was heavy, that his repertoire was complete and offered no opening anywhere, so he brought his spear up to block, shook out his trunk and made to wrap him in it.
重 reads zhòng, heavy. 破綻 is a split seam, and so a gap in a fighter's guard.
總評 Commentary
Bajie props his rake against the hillside and watches. He has just been rescued at some cost, fought his way out through four gates, and now that his brother is in a duel he becomes a spectator. The novel reports it flatly and lets the reader supply the judgment.
The word for the opening the elephant is looking for is a tailor's: a split seam. A fighter's defence is a garment, and you attack where the stitching gives. Finding none, he stops fencing and reaches for the thing he has that Wukong does not — a limb that can grab.
That is a sound decision and it is also the elephant's only idea. He used the trunk on Bajie and it worked perfectly; he is now using it again on an opponent who has spent the whole chapter demonstrating what he does to creatures that try to hold on to him.
