請猴王來 Fetch the Monkey King

The little dragon brooded a while, then wept again and said: "Brother, speak no talk of breaking up. If the master is to be saved, you have only to go and fetch a certain one."

沉吟半晌 is "to brood, hesitate a good while"; 救得師父 takes 得 as dé; 散火 takes 散 as sàn. The horse turns from grief to strategy.

八bā戒jiè道dào：「教jiào我wǒ請qǐng誰shuí麼me？」八bā戒jiè道dào：「教jiào我wǒ请qǐng谁shuí么me？」

Bajie said: "And whom would you have me fetch?"

教 ("bid, have") is jiào. Bajie’s curiosity is the opening the horse needs.

小xiǎo龍lóng道dào：「你nǐ趁chèn早zǎo兒er駕jià雲yún回huí上shàng花huā果guǒ山shān，請qǐng大dà師shī兄xiōng孫sūn行xíng者zhě來lái。小xiǎo龙lóng道dào：「你nǐ趁chèn早zǎo儿er驾jià云yún回huí上shàng花huā果guǒ山shān，请qǐng大dà师shī兄xiōng孙sūn行xíng者zhě来lái。

The little dragon said: "Get you back, good and early, upon a cloud to the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, and fetch the Eldest Brother, Sun the Pilgrim.

In 趁早兒 the colloquial 兒 is er. 花果山 is the Mountain of Flowers and Fruit, Wukong’s home; 孫行者 ("Sun the Pilgrim") is his monastic style, 行 read xíng.

還有 takes 還 as hái; 降妖 ("to subdue demons") takes 降 as xiáng; 管教 ("will surely bring it that…") takes 教 as jiào; 報得這敗陣之仇 takes 得 as dé. The horse frames Wukong as both rescuer and avenger.

總評 Commentary

The horse’s counsel is the hinge of the chapter’s second half: the crisis cannot be met by the disciples present, but only by recalling the banished Sun Wukong. It is the practical corollary of the 意馬心猿 couplet — the scattered Five Phases cannot cohere without the Mind-Monkey, and so the Mind-Monkey must be brought back.

The horse shrewdly pitches the errand to Bajie’s appetite for vindication as much as to duty: Wukong will not only save the master but avenge 這敗陣之仇, the humiliation of their defeat. Rescue and revenge are offered together, the one to move the master’s cause, the other to move Bajie.
