庵觀寺院 We Will Lodge Here Tonight

sānzàngdào:「dìngshìzuòānguànyuànjiùjiè宿lemíngzǎoxíng。」xíngzhědào:「shīshuōdeshìzǒudòngxiē。」sānzàngdào:「dìngshìzuòānguànyuànjiùjiè宿lemíngzǎoxíng。」xíngzhědào:「shīshuōdeshìzǒudòngxiē。」


逐句解 Line by line

sānzàngdào:「dìngshìzuòānguànyuànjiùjiè宿lemíngzǎoxíng。」 sānzàngdào:「dìngshìzuòānguànyuànjiùjiè宿lemíngzǎoxíng。」

Tripitaka said, "Disciples, that over there must surely be a hermitage or a temple. Let us borrow a night's lodging here and set out early tomorrow."

This 那裡 is the plain pointing one, with as — over there. And is guàn again, the Daoist house.

xíngzhědào:「shīshuōdeshìzǒudòngxiē。」 xíngzhědào:「shīshuōdeshìzǒudòngxiē。」

Pilgrim said, "What the master says is right. Let us all step out a little."

The in 說得是 is the unstressed de. Pilgrim agreeing twice in a row is unusual enough to be worth marking.


總評 Commentary

The plan is working. They needed a place with people in it and here is one, exactly where the compromise required it to be.

It is worth noticing that Tripitaka is guessing from a silhouette at dusk. He sees towers and halls and reads them as a religious house, which is the correct reading and also the most comforting one available.
