逐句解 Line by line
唐僧在馬上聽得又這般叫喚,即勒馬叫:「悟空,去救那女子下來罷。」
唐僧在马上听得又这般叫唤,即勒马叫:「悟空,去救那女子下来罢。」
The Tang Monk, up on his horse, heard the calling come again in this fashion, and at once reined in and cried, "Wukong, go and get that girl down and save her."
勒 is lè here, to rein a horse in — the same word as in the proverb about reining up at the cliff edge. The 罷 is the light ba that softens an order into a request, which is the only softening in the sentence.
行者道:「師父走路,怎麼又想起他來了?」
行者道:「师父走路,怎么又想起他来了?」
Pilgrim said, "Master, you are on the road. How have you come to be thinking about her again?"
He is genuinely baffled. The argument was settled, the party moved on, and his master has stopped the horse.
總評 Commentary
Twelve characters of peace and it is over. The demon's calculation was right: she did not have to defeat Pilgrim, only to reach one ear.
Notice that Tripitaka gives no reason at all. He does not report hearing a voice or having second thoughts. He simply issues the order again, as though the earlier conversation had not happened, and that is what makes Pilgrim's puzzled question the right one.
