Four characters of grudging command. He has climbed down and he is not going to be gracious about it.


總評 Commentary

The climbdown, and the novel gives it to him in three shrinking lines: a sentence, then six characters, then four. He is running out of anger as he speaks.

Turning the heart round is a phrase with a faint moral weight to it, close to relenting. The narrator will not quite say he apologised, because he does not, but the word does the work.

And the last four characters are pure character. Having been argued out of murdering his brothers, he closes by telling them to try harder.
