That day, the sky already growing dark, the ministers asked the king to retire, and each and all withdrew.
歸寢 to go to one's rest. 散訖 (sàn qì) dispersed and done.
A brief coda closes the day of the resurrection: night falls, the court disperses, and the emperor is put to bed. The single sentence marks the pause between the drama of the return and the resumption of imperial business the next morning.
