誠心念佛 He Has Truly Taken Instruction
八戒道：「哥哥又往那裡去？」行者道：「這郡侯聽信老孫之言，果然受教，恭敬善慈，誠心念佛。我這去再奏玉帝，求些雨來。」八戒道：「哥哥又往那里去？」行者道：「这郡侯听信老孙之言，果然受教，恭敬善慈，诚心念佛。我这去再奏玉帝，求些雨来。」

Bajie said, "Where is elder brother off to this time?"
那 is nǎ here, the question word where. This is the sixth of the chapter's eight, out of seventy-three appearances of the character — the rest are the nà that means that.
Pilgrim said, "This prefect has believed what Old Monkey told him and has genuinely taken the instruction. He is reverent, good and kind, and recites the Buddha's name with a sincere heart.
果然受教, has really accepted the teaching — Pilgrim is vouching for him. Two scenes ago he was calling the man a fellow in front of his own staff. 誠心, a sincere heart, is the judgement that matters: Pilgrim is certifying that this is not fear.
"So I am going up to petition the Jade Emperor again, and ask for some rain."
求些雨來 — ask for some rain. After all the edicts and departments and written allocations, Pilgrim describes the errand in the plainest words available.
Pilgrim vouches for the prefect, and the change in how he speaks about the man is the quiet centre of this whole stretch.
He came down from heaven carrying its contempt and used its word — that fellow — to the man's face. Now he calls him reverent, good and kind, and testifies to the sincerity of his heart. Nothing has changed except that Pilgrim watched him confess in public and heard a city start praying.
The word he uses for what the prefect did is the word for accepting a teaching. Pilgrim, who spent five hundred years under a mountain learning that lesson himself, is a reasonable judge of it.
