剝皮, "flayed hide", is left at the literary bō. The colloquial reading of the character would suit the flavour of the abuse better, and the question is the same one raised by 血 at 血皮脹 earlier; the character is unguarded and this edition has no precedent either way, so the site is recorded rather than settled.
"What sort of person are you, to dare take that one's measure? Do not run — look to the rake!"
The retort is better than it looks: the Bull King asked how big the Great Sage was, and Eight Rules asks what sort of creature the Bull King is, to presume to judge size at all. 那個 is the pointing nà, picking up the taunt from the line before. 甚樣 takes the question word shén; 量 is liàng, to gauge.
Eight Rules answers for his brother, and the retort is better than it looks. The Bull King asked how big a fellow the Great Sage was; Eight Rules asks what sort of creature the Bull King is, to presume to judge size at all. The question is turned rather than answered.
The manner is his own. 潑老剝皮 — you wretched old flayed hide — is street abuse of a kind neither the Great Sage nor the local god produces anywhere in this chapter, and the novel prints it unedited, as it printed 血皮脹的遭瘟 a few passages back. He is the party's only vulgarian and the book is consistent about it.
