The Bull King drew back again in terror and went west, and met the Vajra of Indestructible Honoured King and Eternal Abiding from Golden Haze Ridge on Mount Kunlun, who stood against him and shouted: "Where will the creature go now?

Kunlun is the great Daoist massif of the west, seat of the Queen Mother — the one non-Buddhist posting among the four, and the novel does not trouble about the boundary. 遇著 closes the set of four encounter verbs, all taking zháo. 將 marks futurity, jiāng, and 安走 is the literary "go whither" — the fourth Vajra asks the same question as the first, in a higher style.

"I have the Buddha's own word from the Great Thunderclap Monastery in the West to hold this pass. Who is to let you through?"

把截 is to hold a pass against passage, a military term. 誰放你也 closes on a question that answers itself: the four quarters are stopped, the party is behind him, and there is nowhere the Bull King has not now been turned back from.

總評 Commentary

The fourth quarter closes, and the posting is Kunlun — not a Buddhist mountain at all but the great Daoist massif of the west, seat of the Queen Mother. Three Buddhist mountains and one Daoist, and the Vajra stationed there holds the Buddha's own word. The novel arranges its cosmos without troubling about the boundary.

這廝又將安走 asks the same question the first Vajra asked, in literary rather than everyday Chinese, and the difference in style is the sequence's closing effect. What began as a shout at a fleeing animal ends as a formal interrogation.

誰放你也 answers itself. All four directions are stopped, the party is behind him, and the Bull King has run out of compass. Everything that follows will happen inside this net.
