總評 Commentary

Two days of rooting are summarised in three characters, and then the passage goes back to the eating and gives that eight clauses. Seven or eight shí of food, rice and wheat together, taken at a sweep. This chapter measures effort in meals from beginning to end.

The parting names three of the four travellers. Eight Rules is at the head of the column in the shape of a pig and does not appear in the sentence at all — the last small indignity the chapter pays him.
