The king caught hold of him: "Divine monk, take a day at your ease. Let us have some dry rations parched for you, give you silver for the road and pick out a fast horse — and then you may go."

乾 is gān, dry — not the qián of the first trigram of the 易經, which is what the character reads as on its own. 乾糧烘炒 is grain parched for the road, the Ming equivalent of packing trail rations. 盤纏 is travelling money and 銀兩 is silver reckoned by weight rather than by coin.

Pilgrim laughed: "Your Majesty is talking the way one talks of clambering over hills and rounding ridges on foot."

得 is the light de here, hooking 說 to a description of the manner of the talking. 巴山轉嶺 — clawing up mountains, rounding ridges — is the set phrase for hard overland slog, and Wukong is pointing out that the king has costed the journey as though it were one.

"I will not deceive you: a road of three thousand li like this one — pour the wine in the cup, and before it goes cold I shall have been and come back."

似 is sì throughout this edition. The boast is put as a measurement, and the unit is a cup of wine going cold — the same prop the last scene turned on and the one the next scene will hand him again. The king measures the road in days; Wukong measures it in how long a drink stays warm.
