Pilgrim said, "To make the pills."

And the identical shape of answer. It is also entirely true: a pill needs something to bind it, and this is the binder.

總評 Commentary

The fourth ingredient is ordered in the same flat tone as the third, and the exchange runs to the same three beats: an order, a question, an answer that explains nothing. Pilgrim has now asked for soot and horse urine in consecutive sentences without once raising his voice.

"To make the pills" is true, incidentally. A pill needs something to bind it and this is the binder. The answer is exact and gives nothing away, which has been the method all night.
