He dreamed your royal father told him: he had been wronged and slain by that Quanzhen adept, pushed into the eight-cornered glazed-tile well in the royal garden, and the adept had changed into his very likeness.

那全真 (nà quán zhēn) deictic nà; 欺害 (qī hài) "to wrong and do to death."

The whole court of officials could not know it.

你nǐ年nián幼yòu亦yì無wú分fēn曉xiǎo，禁jìn你nǐ入rù宮gōng，關guān了le花huā園yuán，大dà端duān怕pà漏lòu了le消xiāo息xī。你nǐ年nián幼yòu亦yì无wú分fēn晓xiǎo，禁jìn你nǐ入rù宫gōng，关guān了le花huā园yuán，大dà端duān怕pà漏lòu了le消xiāo息xī。

You, being young, had no discernment either; he forbade you the palace and shut the garden, chiefly for fear the secret should leak.

無分曉 (wú fēn xiǎo) "no discernment," 分 = fēn; 禁你入宮 (jìn nǐ rù gōng) "forbade you the palace," 禁 = jìn.

你nǐ父fù王wáng今jīn夜yè特tè來lái請qǐng我wǒ降xiáng魔mó。你nǐ父fù王wáng今jīn夜yè特tè来lái请qǐng我wǒ降xiáng魔mó。

Your royal father came this very night to ask me to subdue the fiend.

降魔 (xiáng mó) "subdue the fiend," 降 = xiáng.

Fearing it might not be a fiend, I looked from the air, and it was indeed a demon.

空中 (kōng zhōng) "in the air," zhōng; 妖精 (yāo jīng) "a demon."

I was just about to lay hands on him when, unlooked-for, you came out of the city to hunt.

不期 (bù qī) "unexpectedly"; 打獵 (dǎ liè) "to hunt."

你nǐ箭jiàn中zhòng的de玉yù兔tù，就jiù是shì老lǎo孫sūn。你nǐ箭jiàn中zhòng的de玉yù兔tù，就jiù是shì老lǎo孙sūn。

The jade rabbit your arrow struck was old Sun himself.

箭中 (jiàn zhòng) "the arrow struck," 中 = zhòng (to hit).

Old Sun drew you to the temple to see my master and pour out these inmost matters — every word is true.

衷腸 (zhōng cháng) "the inmost feelings" (衷, the heart within — not 中).

Since you do recognize the white-jade tablet, how can you not think of the kindness of your rearing, and avenge your parent?”

認得 (rèn dé) "to recognize," 得 = dé; 鞠養 (jū yǎng) "to rear, bring up."

總評 Commentary

Wukong lays out the whole hidden history in order — the dream, the murder in the well, the seamless impersonation, the court’s ignorance, the prince’s own enforced isolation — and reveals the last piece: the rabbit that led the hunt was himself.

The account closes on the appeal that reframes the entire quarrel as a duty: since the prince recognizes the tablet, how can he not repay the kindness of his rearing and avenge his father? The Confucian obligation of filial vengeance is set squarely as the choice now before him.
