Tripitaka said, “Aiya!

呀 (ya), an exclamation of alarm.

His military authority is great; should he really kill me, what then?”

軍令 (jūn lìng) "military command, martial law."

行xíng者zhě道dào：「沒méi事shì，有yǒu我wǒ哩lī，若ruò到dào那nà緊jǐn關guān處chù，我wǒ自zì然rán護hù你nǐ。行xíng者zhě道dào：「没méi事shì，有yǒu我wǒ哩lī，若ruò到dào那nà紧jǐn关guān处chù，我wǒ自zì然rán护hù你nǐ。

Pilgrim said, “No matter — I am here; when it comes to the truly critical moment, I will of course protect you.

那緊關處 (nà jǐn guān chù) "that critical juncture," deictic nà, chù.

Should he ask, say you are a monk sent by imperial commission from the Eastern Land, going up to the Western Heaven to worship the Buddha, fetch the scriptures, and present treasures.

欽差 (qīn chāi) "an imperial commission / envoy," 差 = chāi (dispatch), not chà; 佛 (fó) invariant.

他tā道dào：『有yǒu甚shén寶bǎo貝bèi？』他tā道dào：『有yǒu甚shén宝bǎo贝bèi？』

He will say, ‘What treasures have you?’

有甚 (yǒu shén) "what," 甚 = shén (interrogative).

你nǐ卻què把bǎ錦jǐn襴lán袈jiā裟shā對duì他tā說shuō一yí遍biàn，說shuō道dào：『此cǐ是shì三sān等děng寶bǎo貝bèi。你nǐ却què把bǎ锦jǐn襕lán袈jiā裟shā对duì他tā说shuō一yí遍biàn，说shuō道dào：『此cǐ是shì三sān等děng宝bǎo贝bèi。

You then take the brocade cassock and tell him of it at length, saying, ‘This is a treasure of the third grade.

錦襴袈裟 (jǐn lán jiā shā) "the brocade cassock"; 三等 (sān děng) "third grade."

還hái有yǒu頭tóu一yī等děng、第dì二èr等děng的de好hǎo物wù哩lī。』还hái有yǒu头tóu一yī等děng、第dì二èr等děng的de好hǎo物wù哩lī。』

There are yet finer things of the first grade and the second grade.’

還有 (hái yǒu) "there are yet," 還 = hái; 頭一等 (tóu yī děng) "the very first grade," ordinal 一 = yī (not sandhi’d).

And whenever he asks, say that within this casket is a treasure that knows five hundred years above, five hundred years below, and five hundred years between — one thousand five hundred years of things past and to come, all fully known.

中知五百年 (zhōng zhī wǔ bǎi nián) "knows five hundred years between," zhōng; 俱盡曉得 (jù jìn xiǎo dé) "all fully known," here 盡 = jìn (wholly), 曉得 dé.

總評 Commentary

Tripitaka’s alarm at being made the bait for a prince’s martial justice is entirely natural, and Wukong’s airy reassurance — “I am here” — reprises the pilgrimage’s constant rhythm of the fearful master steadied by the confident disciple.

The cover-story casts the pilgrims as an imperial embassy bearing treasures, and the graded-treasure ruse builds toward the casket’s fantastic boast — a thing that knows fifteen hundred years of past and future. Wukong is staging himself as an oracle, baiting the prince’s curiosity so that the hidden monkey may be “consulted” and reveal the truth.
