帥 is shuài, to lead. 時辰 is a double-hour, one of the twelve the Chinese day is divided into, so half of one is about an hour of ours.

行xíng者zhě見jiàn了le心xīn驚jīng，叫jiào道dào：「列liè位wèi仔zǐ細xì。」行xíng者zhě见jiàn了le心xīn惊jīng，叫jiào道dào：「列liè位wèi仔zǐ细xì。」

Pilgrim saw it and his heart shook. He called out, "Have a care, gentlemen!"

仔 is zǐ in 仔細, take care. 列位 is a courteous plural — he is warning them as colleagues, not ordering troops.

The dragon gods and Snake and Tortoise did not know what having a care meant; every one of them halted his weapon and came up close to fend him off.

不知甚麼仔細 — they did not know what care meant — is the hinge of the whole episode. The warning was accurate and useless, because it named a danger the hearers had no way to picture.

那nà妖yāo精jīng幌huǎng的de一yì聲shēng，把bǎ搭dā包bāo兒er撇piē將jiāng起qǐ去qù。那nà妖yāo精jīng幌huǎng的de一yì声shēng，把bǎ搭dā包bāo儿er撇piē将jiāng起qǐ去qù。

With a flourish and a sound the fiend flung the bundle up.

將 is jiāng once more, and this time it is neither a general nor an object-shunter but part of a verb phrase of direction, tossing the thing up and away. The chapter has now used this one character in all three jobs.

The Great Sage Sun could not stop for the five dragons and the two generals; he mounted his somersault, sprang into the ninth heaven and got clear.

顧不得 takes unstressed de. A verb followed by 不得 means could not manage to — he had no time to spare for them. The full dé belongs to the other order, with 不得 coming before its verb, and the god used that one two passages ago.

The dragon gods and Tortoise and Snake he bagged up in the one bundle and carried off again.

又 once more. The sentence puts the captives up front as the thing being dealt with and runs the fiend's action as one unbroken chain of verbs — bagged, carried, gone.

The fiend, victorious, went back to the monastery, roped them too, and had them carried into the cellar and covered over; of which no more.

得 is the full dé in 得勝, to win. 不題 — no more of that — is the storyteller's formula for putting a thread aside and picking up another.

總評 Commentary

The rescue fails in the same shape as everything before it, but this failure is sharper because it turns on a word. Monkey shouts take care, and the borrowed gods do not know what care he means. They answer an alarm by stopping and closing in, which is the worst thing available to them.

That is the cost of borrowed troops. They obey a summons they understand and a commander they do not, and the one piece of knowledge that would have saved them — what the bundle does — is the thing Monkey never explained. He told the god of Wudang a great deal about that bag two scenes ago. He told these five nothing.

His own escape is recorded without comment. Could not stop for them — it is the second time in this chapter that Monkey leaves a bagged company behind, and the narrator gives it the same flat treatment as the first. What has changed is the scale: this time the beings he loses were lent to him by name, and the god who lent them promised they would certainly take the fiend.
