大聖正當悽慘之時，忽見那西南上一朵彩雲墜地，滿山頭大雨繽紛，有人叫道：「悟空，認得我麼？」大圣正当凄惨之时，忽见那西南上一朵彩云坠地，满山头大雨缤纷，有人叫道：「悟空，认得我么？」

Just at the Great Sage's bitterest moment, he saw of a sudden a cloud of many colours come down to earth out of the southwest, and a great rain scattering all over the hilltop, and someone called, "Wukong, do you know me?"
得 is the full dé in 認得. The arrival is announced by weather before it is announced by anybody — cloud and rain first, then a voice, and the speaker is not named for another five segments.
The rescue arrives at the exact moment the lament ends, and out of the southwest — a quarter Monkey has not tried. Both his errands went into the Southern Continent, as the Merit Star was careful to point out, and he has just declared himself out of places to ask; the help arrives from a direction he never went.
Do you know me is a good joke at Monkey's expense. Everyone in this chapter has had to be told who everyone else is — the gatekeeper at Wudang, the fiend twice over, the prince to the fiend — and the one figure who could have ended the whole business opens by asking whether he is recognised.
