逐句解 Line by line
Eight Rules said, "Elder brother, you go and look for it. We will go on ahead and wait for you on the road."
Seventeen graphs, and the only thing Eight Rules says in this whole stretch. He proposes the split that leaves Pilgrim alone inside a monastery full of sleeping demons — and nobody objects to that either.
See the star host close about the Tang Monk, work a spell of carrying, put their powers together, and in one gust of wind lift him out over the wall — away to the highroad, down the slope, and there they camped on the level to wait.
Six verbs in the second half, one to a clause, which is the prose getting them off the mountain as fast as it can. 奔 reads bèn, the band that governs a destination rather than the bēn of simply running. 著 is the ordinary aspect particle.
The star host earns its keep in a single sentence. Having failed to open a set of cymbals and then been carried off in a bag, thirty-three of them combine to do the thing they are actually good at: lifting a man over a wall on a gust of wind.
The arrangement leaves Pilgrim inside alone, at night, hunting for a bundle. Eight Rules suggested it, the star lords carried it out, and the elder who promised twenty graphs ago to leave everything to his disciple's handling is carried off the mountain without being asked.
