排酒賀功 Wine Set Out To Toast The Feat

逐句解 Line by line
Reaching the outside of the dragon palace, it changed back into its former shape, threw Eight Rules down on the ground, and called, "Where are my little ones?"
模樣 takes 模 at mú, the vernacular compound, which the corpus holds by explicit registration; the same graph took mó at 身模 and 規模 in the description a few passages back, where the sense was the one the dictionary knows. 還 is hái, again, and 將 is the disposal marker jiāng.
From within, the fish-sprites — black carp, culter, carp and mandarin fish — and the shell-armoured monsters — tortoise, terrapin, giant soft-shell and river alligator — came crowding out together and answered, "Here!"
Two graphs here stand in no guard roster and both needed a reading supplied by hand. 鯖 is qīng: 康熙 魚部八畫 puts 諸盈切, 音征 against the 五侯鯖 hash alone, then gives 倉經切, 音靑 for the fish — 魚名。靑色,有枕骨, which 正字通 identifies as the black carp. 鮊 is bó: 康熙 魚部五畫 leads with 旁陌切, 音白, glossed 說文 海魚名. 一擁 takes 一 at yì before the level 擁 yōng.
The son-in-law said, "Tie this monk up over there, and get me satisfaction for my patrolling privates."
那 is deictic, nà, and 的 is de. 巡探的小卒 are the two lesser fiends of the opening of this chapter, whose patrol duty was named in the deposition they gave the Dragon King. They are still alive; the revenge is for their ears and lip, not their lives.
The sprites, shoving and clamouring, carried Eight Rules in; and the old Dragon King in his delight came out to meet them, saying, "Worthy son-in-law, you have done well! How did you take him?"
嚷 stands at rǎng at both sites by the invariant ruling, where pypinyin gives rāng for the first and a neutral rang for the second — the same pair of wrong defaults this chapter met at 都嚷嚷鬧鬧. 賢婿 is the honorific the same speaker used before the fight, and it is now being paid out on results.
The son-in-law told the whole matter over from the beginning.
一遍 takes 一 at yí before the falling 遍 biàn, and 了 is the perfective le. It closes on the same four graphs — 說了一遍 — as the clause used of the two maimed fiends reporting to this same dragon earlier in the chapter, and the echo is the joke: the palace has now heard the story twice, from both sides, and acted on it neither time.
The old dragon at once ordered wine set out to toast the feat — but of that no more.
不題 is the storyteller's dismissal, we tell no more of it, and it closes this thread exactly as it closed the court scene at the opening of the chapter. 不 takes bù before the rising 題 tí. No graph in this segment stands in any guard roster.
The dragon palace has a staff, and the novel names it by species twice over: four fish for the scaled sort and four shelled creatures for the armoured. It is the same populace that crowded round the maimed fiends earlier in the chapter, seen now from inside, and the effect of listing them is to make the palace a household with dependants rather than a lair.
Two graphs in that list needed settling from the dictionary because pypinyin knew them in the wrong senses. 鯖 has a band meaning a hash of fish and meat, from a Han anecdote about a man who mixed the gifts of five marquises into one dish, and that is the band the machine supplied — inside a run of four fish names. The other band, the one meaning a fish, is the one that applies.
The scene ends on wine and a dismissal. The dragon does not ask whether taking a hostage was wise, or what the other one is doing; he asks how it was done, hears the story, and orders drink. Everything the palace knows about its danger it has now heard twice and acted on neither time.
