Battle to dusk; the cloned host

Commentary
Dusk brings the first real reckoning: the One-Horned Demon King and all seventy-two cave-kings are taken, and only the Four Stalwart Generals and the monkeys survive, hidden deep in the Water-Curtain Cave. The 心猿’s followers — the energies it had gathered to itself — are scattered and captured, and the mind is left essentially alone against the massed cosmos. This is the turning the whole siege has driven toward: defiance has cost Monkey everything but himself.
His answer is the 分身法 — plucking his hairs to spawn "a thousand, a hundred Great Sages" who beat back Nezha and the five Kings. The trick is pure self-multiplication: facing an army, the mind replies by becoming an army of itself. In the inner-alchemical reading this is the 心猿’s signature evasion — not transformation into something higher but proliferation of the same, the unrefined self answering every challenge by making more of itself. It buys the day but resolves nothing; the cloned legions are still only Monkey, and the next passage opens on the cost.
