總評 Commentary
The battle rhapsody, the longest of the chapter's six and its climax, is built — like the 好殺 賦 before it (#11) — on relentless parallelism, but to an opposite end. Where the Mighty-Spirit duel tilted every couplet toward Wukong and resolved in a single deflating blow, the Nezha duel holds its antitheses in perfect equipoise: weapon answers weapon (sword and saber, rope and pestle, fire-wheel and ball against three cudgels warding front and back), multiplication answers multiplication (百千萬億 against 以一化千千化萬), and the verse arrives not at a verdict but at a deadlock — 不知那個剛強那個柔, “none could tell which was stronger, which softer.”
What the 賦 stages is the 心猿 meeting its match in kind. Nezha's 三頭六臂 and proliferating weapons are the esoteric arsenal of a sanctioned god; Wukong reproduces the same multiplicity from a single cudgel, and the two fill the sky with copies until the heavens themselves go grim and both armies cower. The image is almost cosmological — creation by division, 以一化千, the One generating the many — and it is precisely here that brute combat reaches its limit. Equals cannot resolve a fight by force; the deadlock the verse so carefully balances is the structural sign that Wukong will not be beaten in the field at all. The chapter has been telling us so from its title: the rebellion will end not in defeat but in the granting, and the hollowing, of the name.
