This time the Monkey King, heeding neither high nor low, wielded his iron cudgel, striking east and warding west; not one god could withstand him, and he beat his way clear to the Hall of Universal Brightness, to the very outside of the Hall of Divine Mists.
一番: yì (before fān, 1st tone); 一神: yì (before shén, 2nd tone). 通明殿 and 靈霄殿 are the throne-halls of the Jade Emperor — the monkey is now at the threshold of the supreme seat itself.

Luckily the True Lord Yousheng's aide-officer, Wang the Numinous Officer, was holding the hall; seeing the Great Sage run riot, he drew his golden whip, pressed forward to block him, and cried: "Where to, you rascally ape? With me here, by no means run wild!"
王靈官 (Wáng Líng guān) — the martial thunder-deity Wang Shan, guardian of the Daoist halls. 掣 (chè), to whip out. 切莫: 切 = qiè ("by all means not").

The Great Sage, allowing no word of explanation, raised his cudgel and struck; the Officer's whip rose to meet it. The two grappled and tangled together before the Hall of Divine Mists — a fine fight!:
不由分說, "allowing no explaining" — 分 = fēn here. 廝渾一處, "grappled into one mass": 一 before 處 (chù, 4th tone) is yí. The verse lead-in 好殺 rides the end of this prose segment; the battle-fù follows.
赤膽忠良名譽大，欺天誑上聲名壞。
赤胆忠良名誉大，欺天诳上声名坏。
A red-blooded loyal heart, great in fair repute; one who cheats Heaven and deludes its lord — a name gone foul.
The fù sets the two combatants as moral opposites in parallel lines: Wang Lingguan the loyal (赤膽忠良), the monkey the heaven-cheating rebel (欺天誑上). 誑 (kuáng), to deceive.
一低一好幸相持，豪傑英雄同賭賽。

One base, one fine — happily they hold each other off; hero against hero, joined in the same wager-match.
一低一好: both 一 take yì (before dī 1st tone, hǎo 3rd tone). 相持: 相 = xiāng (mutually). 賭賽, a contest-wager — foreshadowing the Buddha's wager to come.
鐵棒兇，金鞭快，正直無私怎忍耐？
铁棒凶，金鞭快，正直无私怎忍耐？
The iron cudgel fierce, the golden whip swift — how can the upright and selfless endure it?
Short three-beat lines quicken the rhythm of the clash. 正直無私, "upright and unselfish," names Wang Lingguan's righteous standing against the monkey's raw force.
這個是太乙雷聲應化尊，那個是齊天大聖猿猴怪。

This one is the Taiyi Thunder-Sound Responsive-Manifestation Honored One; that one is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, the ape-and-monkey fiend.
Formal epithets crown each fighter. 應化: 應 = yìng ("responsive manifestation," a deity's salvific appearance). 這個…那個 is the fù's standard antithesis-frame.
金鞭鐵棒兩家能，都是神宮仙器械。

Golden whip and iron cudgel — both houses have their skill; both are immortal arms of the divine palace.
兩家, "both parties." The line momentarily levels them: each wields a celestial weapon, each is a match for the other — the deadlock the next lines dwell on.
今日在靈霄寶殿弄威風，各展雄才真可愛。

Today before the Treasure Hall of Divine Mists they flaunt their might, each displaying heroic talent — truly a sight to love.
弄威風, to show off power. The narrator's 真可愛 ("truly delightful") is the storyteller relishing the spectacle — the fù exists to be enjoyed as set-piece.

The one, heart-cheating, would seize the Dipper-and-Ox Palace; the other strains every sinew to uphold the realm of the Dark Sage.
一個…一個: both yí (before gè, 4th tone). 斗牛宮, the celestial palace by the Dipper and Ox lodges — the seat the monkey covets. 玄聖界, the realm of the Dark/Mysterious Sage (the True Warrior, Wang Lingguan's lord).
苦爭不讓顯神通，鞭棒往來無勝敗。
苦争不让显神通，鞭棒往来无胜败。
Bitterly they strive, neither yielding, displaying their powers; whip and cudgel come and go with no victor and no vanquished.
苦爭不讓, a grim unyielding struggle. The fù closes on stalemate — 無勝敗, "no win or loss" — which is exactly why Heaven must escalate again, calling thirty-six thunder generals in the next passage.
總評 Commentary
With Laozi's furnace wrecked, the monkey resumes his assault and reaches the threshold of the Jade Emperor's own throne-halls — 通明殿 and 靈霄殿. The lone defender is Wang Lingguan (王靈官), the fierce thunder-officer who guards the Daoist sanctum; their duel is rendered as a formal battle-fù (hence the 含詞賦 classification).
The fù's whole architecture is antithesis. Line by line it sets 赤膽忠良 against 欺天誑上, 正直無私 against raw monkey-force, "the one who would seize the Dipper Palace" against "the one who upholds the realm of the Dark Sage." This is not idle ornament: the parallelism stages the chapter's moral question — order against the unbound 心猿 — as a perfectly balanced standoff. The repeated verdict 無勝敗 ("no victor") is the structural point: Heaven's righteous force can contain the mind-monkey but cannot subdue him.
That deadlock is what forces the chapter's true turn. Neither Daoist furnace nor Daoist guardian can resolve the monkey; only the Buddha, summoned shortly, will. Plaks reads this escalating series of failures — troops, Erlang, furnace, Wang Lingguan, thunder generals — as the novel's argument that the disordered mind cannot be conquered by force at all, but only transformed by a higher wisdom. The battle-fù's elegant balance is, in that light, a portrait of futility.
